12+ Highly Anticipated New Hotel Openings to Help You Travel Well

Below is a small sample of recent and upcoming openings. Of course we love old favorites too (always feel free to email us about those). Whether you like staying at name brand resorts like the Four Seasons or family owned, boutique properties like Passalacqua in Lake Como or passion projects like Southall in TN, we are here to help introduce you to our connections around the world so you can have your…
BEST. VACATION. EVER.

The Ranch

The Ranch Malibu has a cult-like following. If you are interested in a fairly hard-core wellness program in the beautiful Santa Monica mountains, where the daily morning hike lasts four hours, and each afternoon you have a massage appointment, then The Ranch Malibu is the place for you. If you want that experience, but would prefer to be in the mountains of Italy, then you are in luck. The Ranch Italy has just opened. Both properties have 7 night, 8 day programs, serve delicious, healthy plant-based foods and offer you a chance to de-stress and get healthy well before you arrive, so you hit the ground running and make the most of your time.

Four Seasons Istanbul at Sultanahmet – reopening this fall after extensive renovations.

This is one of two Four Seasons in Istanbul and the only one in the middle of the Old City, steps from the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. (If you are in Istanbul with teenagers and want a hotel with a pool on the Bosphorus, I suggest the Four Seasons at the Bosphorus, which is where I am staying with my teens this summer).

Nayara Tented Camp

Nayara opened their first tented camps at the end of 2019. The tents have been in such high demand, and are often sold out, so Nayara is in the midst of building even more – including several 2 bedroom family tents and 2 presidential-like tents. Costa Rica in general, and Nayara Resorts in particular are both focused on sustainability and conservation at their core. I stayed in their tented camps and can confidently say they are absolutely amazing!   The highest quality, a large plunge pool, indoor/outdoor showers, huge soaking tub and daily complimentary laundry service. All of this in a lush setting, built into the side of a mountain that overlooks the stunning Arenal Volcano.

Passalacqua in Lake Como, Italy

The Grand Hotel Tremezzo is a legendary property on Lake Como, and its owners are building a playful, 5* luxury hideaway on a second lakeside property.  Passalacqua is place to celebrate a timeless, authentically Italian way of life.  With 24 rooms it is the perfect size for those who love smaller hotels. It will have a few surprises, including hidden bars and secret tunnels. When you stay on Lake Como, you must go out on a boat, so take advantage of their vintage boats on property. There are innumerable ways to be active – from a swim in the lake to exercise in their open air gym set in an olive grove.

Southall Farm in Tennessee

Set on a 325 acre working farm outside of Nashville, the culinary offering will be a highlight of your stay in their 62 guest room and 16 cottage property.  If you love Blackberry Farm or Blackberry Mountain but have had difficulty finding availability, try out Southall.

Canoe Place in the Hamptons, NY

Reimagined and renovated “America’s oldest inn” on the waterfront canal of Hampton Bays.  The accommodations are a mix of rooms at the inn, freestanding cottages and boathouses.  A lovely pool is surrounded by beautiful gardens.  The location sets you just west of West Hampton, affording easy access to the areas incredible culinary options, wineries and boutiques.  Accepting reservations beginning August 1, 2022.

Auberge properties

Stanly Ranch

Auberge is one of my favorite 5* hotel brands. Their properties have an authentic sense of place, attentive service and their dining options are upscale and creative. They have a series of new properties opening.  Last summer Bishop’s Lodge opened in Santa Fe, NM. Last fall Hacienda Alta Gracia opened in Costa Rica. In January Etéreo opened in Riviera Maya, in April Stanly Ranch opened in Napa Valley, CA. Inn at Mattei’s Tavern in southern California is opening this September and Wildflower Farms is opening in upstate NY this fall.

Madrid

Four Seasons Madrid

Some cities are also on trend with many new hotel openings. Right now Madrid is having a moment. The Four Seasons and Rosewood Villa Magna opened last year. The Mandarin Oriental Ritz opened earlier this year. The Madrid EDITION (photo at top) opened in April. And a NOBU is opening in 2023. These are bringing incredible 5* options to a city that surprisingly had relatively few for a city of its size and standing as a prominent European city.  Read more in this recent article in the WSJ, Should You Go to Madrid or Barcelona?
