Shane Glass, President, Colony Business Management & Managing Director at The Colony Group, provides tax advisory and accounting services to influential musicians, touring artists, athletes, directors, producers, content creators, entertainers, and executives. Shane has also been the tour accountant for major touring artists where he handled tour accounting and settlements all over the world.
Prior to merging with The Colony Group in 2019, Shane was one of the founding partners of Glass Malek LLP, a business management firm, specializing in the entertainment industry. Formerly, he served as a Managing Director at a large international accounting firm.
Shane has been listed as one of The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Business Managers, one of Variety’s Business Managers Elite, as well as one of Billboard’s Top Business Managers.* He currently holds two master degrees, a Master of Accounting from Tulane University and a Master of Business in Taxation from the University of Southern California.
Shane developed and teaches a course titled, Touring, Tour Accounting, and Merchandising at UCLA’s Extension Program. He has also taught a course on the Business of Music, which focused on all aspects of the music industry. He also guest lectures for other music business courses at UCLA Extension and law schools.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Business Managers criteria: The Power Business Managers are selected based on a variety of factors, including recommendations from others in the entertainment industry as well as independent research. Power Business Manager’s list from 2019 through 2023 included Shane Glass, a founding partner of Glass Malek LLP, a business management firm that merged into The Colony Group in 2019. Shane is President and Managing Director of Colony’s Business Management practice.
Variety Business Managers Elite criteria: The profiles are based on information submitted by the business managers, including information the manager chooses to share regarding its clients and the background of the manager’s employees (name, title, number of years in the business, etc.). Shane Glass, Paul Glass, Pam Malek, and Amir Malek were featured on the lists from 2017 through 2022. Their recognition in 2017 and 2019 was based on information submitted by Glass Malek LLP prior to its merger into The Colony Group on October 1, 2019.
Billboard criteria: The Top Business Managers are selected based on a variety of factors, including recommendations from others in the entertainment industry as well as independent research.
