Q1 2014 Market Update and Economic Review

In the first quarter of 2014, the U.S. economy’s momentum slipped as bad weather and volatility overseas restrained consumers and businesses, diminishing hopes for an early-2014 breakout in growth. Gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of goods and services produced across the economy, decelerated in the final quarter of 2013, growing at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 2.6%.
